A RealTime World Challenge classic sporting MCS 2WNR dampers after a complete restoration. For all of our Honda fanatics, this one’s for you, along with the rest of the collection! Debuted for the 1995 IMSA Endurance Championship, this car pays homage to a great era of touring car racing.
Be on the lookout for this iconic car and its return to the track at the WeatherTech® International Challenge with Brian Redman for the Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin traditional vintage weekend.
RealTime began its 27 consecutive year run in World Challenge in 1993, using a pair of Honda Prelude Si Touring Cars (then Class C and later Super Production [SP]). Team leader Peter Cunningham finished second in the Drivers’ Championship in 1993 (by three points) and 1994 (again by three points, ugh) before stepping up to this new chassis and finally winning his first World Challenge title in 1995.
When Cunningham switched to the Acura NSX GT car the following season, RealTime hired four-time SCCA Club Racing National Champion Michael Galati to take over the controls of this particular Prelude, winning the 1996 Rookie-of-the-Year title along with his first World Challenge Drivers’ Championship.
Cunningham and and Galati went on to further successes in World Challenge, eventually becoming the two winningest Drivers’ Champions in series history– with seven and five titles respectively. That makes the provenance of VIN 000024 pretty special.
